The Washington Wizards are out of contention for signing Kevin Durant in the upcoming free agency. The franchise has set sights on Al Horford, Ryan Anderson and Nicolas Batum.
All the three free agents fit the Wizards’ plans of playing faster and smaller with more three-point shooting next season, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com.
The Wizards were in the lottery after making it to the playoffs last season and parted company with Randy Wittman. The Wizards have enough cap room and roster space to fill up this summer.
The Charlotte Hornets rode on Nicolas Batum’s versatility to reach the playoffs this season. Coming off a disastrous season, the Wizards are in desperate need of an upgrade.
Batum is capable of helping a team both defensively and offensively. His ball handling ability is also impressive Offensively, he could be a player on the wings in Washington.
The Wizards will have a lot of competitors to secure New Orleans Pelicans’ power forward Ryan Anderson’s services. The 28-year-old free agent may command a contract worth $17 million in the open market, according to the CNS Mid-Atlantic.com. Anderson, one of the best shooting big men is definitely a better option than Jared Dudley and Kris Humphries.
After missing out on hometown favorite Kevin Durant, the Wizards have targeted Al Horford.
Atlanta Hawks center Al Horford is seen by many experts as the second best free agent this summer after Durant. Horford has been linked to many teams, including the Golden State Warriors, but the Hawks are still the favorites to sign him.
