Duke’s Brandon Ingram has posted a photo of himself wearing Lakers’ jersey in his Facebook page after working out with the team on Thursday. Los Angeles is likely to pick Ingram with their second overall pick on June 23 NBA Draft.
LSU’s Ben Simmons and Duke’s Brandon Ingram are top projected picks of the upcoming NBA Draft. The Lakers were heavily leaning on Ben Simmons, but the Sixers own the first overall pick and are likely to pick the LSU product.
ESPN analytics recently projected the Duke forward as the top prospect of this NBA Draft.
“Despite the consensus among scouts, these projections question whether Simmons is truly the best player in the class. Ingram has the highest draft grade, based on total projected SPM, and he is most likely to play at the level of an All-Star or starter during his first five seasons.” Pointed out ESPN analytics specialists Paul Siban and Sharon Katz.
Though the timing of Ingram’s photo is intriguing as he is expected to attend a pre-draft work-out session with the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.
Ingram is going to be an exciting addition in the Lakers’ young core. The Duke product is a perfect fit in the small forward position where the team has a hole after the retirement of Kobe Bryant.
Newly appointed Lakers’ coach Luke Walton will be looking forward to developing Ingram as a star. He gets a chance to hone his skill set with the likes of DeAngelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle, once he dons Lakers’ colors. His shooting prowess and defensive abilities are worth mentioning.
He has featured for legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski in the Duke program. Few days back, Ingram revealed that leaving Duke after his freshman season for NBA Draft was a tough decision, as reported by Sports Rageous on Thursday.
