NBA Rumors: Russell Westbrook to Cavs – best trade scenario to get an early revenge from ‘former pal’

The rivalry between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers is expected to be more intense in the 2016-17 NBA season after Kevin Durant chose to play in Oakland. Russell Westbrook, who is expected to be traded to other teams, is possibly looking for a great acquaintance to oppose his former partner. Is joining the Cavaliers the best trade scenario for him?

Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant have been playing together for years and no one has predicted that this day would come. In desperation to get his first championship, Durant decided to join the Western Conference champions and broke his relationship with Westbrook.

“I just told him. I let him know how I felt,” Durant said of his conversation with Westbrook. “Obviously, our relationship won’t ever be the same again. But it’s something I wanted to do, and I expressed that to him. Hopefully, he respected it.”

From the time Kevin Durant made his decision, several NBA players, officials, and GMs expressed their disappointment. The Oklahoma City Thunder almost defeated the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals after establishing a 3-1 lead.

They fell short when the Warriors gained the momentum and eventually entered the NBA Finals. The Warriors failed to get the championship title after being defeated by the Cavaliers. Kevin Durant believed that joining them next season will lead to a higher chance to win the championship.

“I want to win a championship, but you’ve got to play great basketball to win a championship,” Durant told Sina Sports. “Those guys were so close last year, so they’re hungry this year to get back. I want to help them. I want to be the guy that takes them over the top.

“We don’t have any selfish players on the team. That’s the thing: I think everybody expects us to play selfish, but guys want to go out there and win and just play the right way. That’s what they’ve been doing. It’s on me to come in there and adapt to what they’ve been doing. It’s going to take me some time, but I’m going to get used to it pretty quick.”

Russell Westbrook has been involved in trade rumors with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the past. The 27-year-old point guard will surely be a great addition to the squad of LeBron James to beat the Warriors’ ‘Super Team’. The acquisition of Westbrook would force the Cavaliers to sacrifice some of their key players like Kevin Love.

If the trade rumors will become a reality, Russell Westbrook will get an early revenge from a former pal, who trashed their strong bond in desperation to get a championship title.

Russell really needs to stay in OKC, they love him and have defending him against the media for years. I hope that’s his decision, he looks like a loyal man.

He can be lent by OKC to Cleve for a year!

You are not in the same city you were born yet that’s okay yet you expect loyalty is nit moving . Kind of stupid. If it made sense you would have stayed in your mpther’s womb .

Loyalty is not having to stay in the same city. Being free is being able to move to another city and work there. I am sure you are not in the city you were born in so I guess you aren’t loyal.
