NBA Rumors: Sixers to acquire Ricky Rubio from T’Wolves for Nerlens Noel?

The Timberwolves selected point guard Kris Dunn with the fifth overall pick in this year’s draft which puts the future of Ricky Rubio in Minnesota in doubt. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Philadelphia 76ers may acquire Rubio from the Timberwolves in exchange for Nerlens Noel.

The Sixers have been shopping Noel and Jahlil Okafor even before the draft and they were hoping to get the No. 3 pick from the Boston Celtics. Philadelphia was looking to get Kris Dunn with that pick but the Celtics did not accept the trade that will send Noel, Robert Covington and two picks to Boston.

According to Eric in Madison of Canis Hoopus, the Sixers also offered Noel to Minnesota for the No. 5 that turned out to be Dunn as the Celtics opted to select Jaylen Brown. Now that the draft is over, Philadelphia will still look to trade Noel and/or Okafor and the Timberwolves seems to be the perfect partner.

The Sixers can offer Nerlens Noel straight up for Ricky Rubio and it would be a perfect fit for both teams. The Timberwolves will be receiving a player to compliment Karl-Anthony Towns while the Sixers will get a starting point guard.

Even though Ben Simmons is projected as the team’s primary playmaker, it would be smart to have a real point guard in his first year to ease up the process. However, these are all just rumors but expect more to come as the NBA offseason kicks into an even higher gear.

When Twin Cities Pioneer Press asked about the potential of Rubio and Dunn playing together next season, Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau noted that anyone could be traded. However, he did not say who but he’s happy they have players that can facilitate and play defense.

“I think they have good size; they have good toughness. It’s a different look. I think you’re seeing that more and more now, where you have two point guards on the floor. They’re both capable of playing off each other,” Thibodeau said.

Sixers will not offer Noel for Rubio straight up. Rubio has a huge contract and cannot shoot.

The sixers offered Noel for DUNN not Rubio. There’s no way they offer the same player for a player with much less value then their original proposal. It doesn’t work that way.

Your wrong they offered Noel and two other players for Dunn and a future draft pick so Noel for Rubio could make sense, more for us(Timberwolves) then yall (76ers) plus it looks like you guys are desperately ready to depart from all those big you have over there hey we’ll take okafor also if it makes you feel better. Wow imagine that Dunn, Levine, Wiggins, Towns, and Noel/Okafor and tibb$ a coach the east would be in immediate danger!!!!

We’re in the west, buddy … What idiot would trade Noel and Oka4 for Bricky who somehow makes as much as Steph Curry

If the Sixers were desperate, they would have made a move on draft night. Next year is a superior draft, and there are plenty of options that are better than Dunn. The Sixers are smart to hold tight, and get something better next year.

The Sixers can offer Nerlens Noel straight up for Ricky Rubio and it would be a perfect fit for both teams. … but they would be stupid. This would never happen. Simmons will set up the offense, they need a guy who can actually shoot at the point.
