NBA Rumors: Sixers to acquire another high draft pick? Okafor, Noel or Embiid could be on the trade block

The Philadelphia 76ers plans to work out other top prospects in the 2016 NBA Draft other than the projected top two draftees, Brandon Ingram and Ben Simmons. This opens up NBA rumors that the Sixers will deal their top pick or trade down as they continue to rebuild in making a playoff team next season.

The rookie prospects mentioned aside from Ingram and Simmons are Jaylen Brown, Kris Dunn, Jamal Murray, Buddy Hield and Dragan Bender, according to All the players mentioned are projected to be picked in the Top 10 of the rookie draft set this June 23, 2016 and all will be part of NBA rumors as teams look to gain or trade their first round selections.

The Sixers are initially thought to be deciding between Ingram and Simmons for the top pick and working out other players does not make sense since the franchise does not have lottery pick although they have the 24th and 26th picks in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Dealing the top pick will be difficult for the Sixers but there will be options where teams will offer their high draft pick plus an established star for Philadelphia’s top selection. There is also the option that the Sixers deal one of their young big men to acquire another top pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

The Sixers need help in all positions from their roster even with the presence of Jahlil Okafor, Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid. But that same group has not played together and one of them could be in the trading block.

Teams like the Phoenix Suns (4th pick) and Minnesota Timberwolves (5th pick) could be interested in one of Okafor, Noel or Embiid while teams like the Boston Celtics (3rd pick) and Toronto Raptors (9th pick) might want to add weapons for next season in exchange for their lottery selection.

The rookie draft is next month and for teams like the Philadelphia 76ers exploring all possibilities is just normal and they will continue to be part of the NBA rumors at this point of the offseason. Will they deal their top pick? Will they acquire another Top 5 to Top 10 pick in exchange for one of their young guys?
