The Philadelphia 76ers are not contented with just the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and also wants the third overall pick owned by Boston. Latest NBA rumors early Thursday has the Sixers offering Nerlens Noel in exchange for the No. 3 pick.
Marc Stein of ESPN confirmed on Twitter about the Sixers’ aggressive stance on Boston’s pick
Stein added that the Sixers are targeting rookie prospects Jamal Murray, Buddy Hield or Kris Dunn if they pry away the pick from Boston. Philadelphia owns the top pick and are expected to select Ben Simmons.
The Sixers have an abundance of big men in their line-up with the presence of Noel, Jahlik Okafor and Joel Embiid, who is set to comeback next season after suffering from various injuries the past seasons.
Trading away Noel will make sense as they want to add perimeter players to complement their big men. Philadelphia is expected involved in NBA rumors leading to Thursday’s rookie selection as they have lots of trade assets to offer.
Last week, there were reports that Okafor has been offered to various NBA teams but nothing was finalized. Okafor was reportedly offered to the Celtics as well but again no deal was done. Noel was also involved in rumors of a trade to the Atlanta Hawks for point guard Jeff Teague.
NBA rumors will continue until Thursday night as teams like the Sixers are expected to make major moves to improve their rosters for the long-term.
