Nerlens Noel is one of the biggest names reportedly on the trading block and mentioned in many NBA rumors. One team in need of a top power forward is the Toronto Raptors. Will the Philadelphia 76ers ship him to Toronto in exchange for picks and a young prospect?

The Sixers have admitted earlier in the 2016 offseason that they want to deal Noel, or Jahlil Okafor, to have a more “balanced roster”. To achieve that balance, Philadelphia wants a starting point guard or shooting guard. In a possible trade with the Raptors, they can have both and will be set for the 2016-2017 NBA Season.

The trade, via ESPN Trade Checker, sends Noel to Toronto in exchange for Cory Joseph and Norman Powell, who will get the starting job in Philadelphia.

This trade makes sense for Toronto since they need a starting power forward that plays defense to start alongside Jonas Valanciunas, who is known more for his offense over defense.

The Raptors are in “win-now” mode. With the core of Valanciunas, Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan they are ready to challenge the defending East champs Cleveland Cavaliers. However, their current line-up is still seen as not good enough to beat LeBron James’ team. They need to make a major upgrade to improve their chances.

This also makes sense for the Sixers. Philadelphia gets two guards that will also start for the team because they have a weak guard rotation.

Joseph has shown, in his time with the San Antonio Spurs and Raptors and also the Canadian national team, that he can run a team well. Powell is a very good prospect and will have his chance to get major minutes with the Sixers.

Philadelphia values future picks since they are in rebuilding mode. The Raptors can add a future first or second rounder to make this deal work.

Noel, along with Okafor, has been linked to a lot of NBA teams. These includes the Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Rockets. All are NBA rumors for now but there’s belief in Philadelphia that a deal for the power forward is coming soon.
