JaVale McGee has been bashed in his entire NBA career for his supposed “low basketball IQ” as he had difficulty staying with a single team the last few seasons. NBA rumors now claim that the athletic big man has a great shot of making the Golden State Warriors to join the “Super Team” that feature Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.
According to head coach Steve Kerr, McGee has “a real chance” in Golden State and that his performance in the upcoming Warriors training camp will decide if he makes it or not to the final roster.
“But he comes highly recommended by Andre, who played with him in Denver. I think this is a really good opportunity for him, because he’s playing with a talented group of players and a really good environment… in which there’s nobody like him on the roster,” Kerr said of McGee’s chances of making the Warriors’ line-up.
“I think he’s got a chance and we’ll give him every opportunity to play.”
A few things are going the way of McGee in his tryout for the Warriors. Andre Iguodala was a former teammate of the big man with the Denver Nuggets and the veteran has vouched already for McGee.
The center is also known for his athleticism, exciting dunks and shot blocking, two traits that is valuable for the Warriors after they lost centers Andrew Bogut and Festus Ezeli this summer.

Currently, Zaza Pachulia, Anderson Varejao and Damian Jones are the centers for the team. Pachulia is the likely starter while Varejao is injury prone and Jones is still very young. Basing on the NBA rumors, McGee has a real shot of making the team.
