Rumors and speculations are now swirling around the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers who are reportedly having trade talks involving Kevin Love, Jae Crowder, Marcus Smart and Jonas Jerebko.
The Cleveland Cavaliers succeeded to win their first NBA title after beating the Golden State Warriors in the recent NBA Finals. With their intention to make a quick revenge, the Warriors upgraded their roster by adding Kevin Durant.
As of now, the Cavaliers have not made a big move to answer the improvement on Warriors’ roster. Kevin Love has been the involved in various trade rumors in the past months. Though the Cavaliers won the finals, many people were not impressed with Love’s performance.
Playing alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, it seems like Kevin Love does not deserve to be called one of the Cavaliers’ ‘Big Three’. There were rumors that the Cavaliers are eyeing to trade Love this summer and the Boston Celtics could be the possible trade partner.
The Boston Celtics are one of the NBA teams who dreamt of becoming a title contender next season. With the acquisition of Al Horford in free agency, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge said that they are not done yet in improving their roster this summer.
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers would be good trade partners. Despite his poor performance in the past seasons, the Celtics are long been rumored to be interested in Kevin Love. The Celtics currently have plenty of trade assets to offer to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Kevin Love is not a bad player at all. In fact, he was considered one of the best players in the league when was still playing in Minnesota. Playing as a sidekick of LeBron James forced Love to make certain adjustments to the way he played inside the court.
Once the trade deal proceeds, this will help both teams in filling up the need in their roster. In Boston, the Love-Horford could be the most versatile and offensively talented in the entire league. Meanwhile, in Cleveland, Jae Crowder and Marcus Smart will help them to fill up the areas they need to improve.
Marcus Smart will fill up the spot that Matthew Dellavedova left when he decided to join the Milwaukee Bucks. Jae Crowder will take Love’s place. Crowder may not bring a huge impact on the offensive end is a great defender. The Cavaliers will be needing someone like him, especially when they face the Warriors’ “Super Team”.
