Rumors and speculations are now swirling around the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks who are reportedly having trade talks involving Jabari Parker, Greg Monroe, Amir Johnson, Jonas Jerebko and Marcus Smart.
The Boston Celtics are one of the NBA teams who have frequently mentioned in trade rumors this offseason. The Celtics succeeded to acquire Al Horford in the recent free agency but they are reportedly eyeing for another big man. Names of DeMarcus Cousins, Nerlens Noel, and Jahlil Okafor were linked to Celtics but no deal has been made since then.
Al Horford is a flexible big man who can play power forward and center position. Having another quality big man will give the Celtics one of the best frontcourts in the league next season.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks are actively shopping center Greg Monroe in the past months. After the Bucks acquired him in 2015 free agency, it seemed like the 26-year-old big man does more harm than good.
Before Greg Monroe joined, the Bucks were a playoff contender. But the 2015-16 season proved that Monroe was not a good fit in Milwaukee. Jabari Parker is also reportedly on the trading block mainly because of his lack of effort on the defensive end.
“The experiment of using Parker at the four failed miserably on the defensive end. Through the first half the season, the Bucks ranked in bottom five in defensive efficiency. Though some of this could be explained by playing Parker alongside another player with significant defensive limitations in Greg Monroe, it was also contributed to by Parker himself.” Daniel Larsen of Behind The Buck Pass said.
In a suggested trade scenario, the Boston Celtics could engage in a trade deal with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Celtics will be sending Marcus Smart, Jonas Jerebko, and Amir Johnson for Greg Monroe and Jabari Parker. This trade works on the ESPN trade machine.
If this trade proceeds, it will help both teams in filling up the needs to improve on their roster. The Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks are willing traders and there is a higher possibility that the two teams will be engaging in a trade deal soon.
