The Denver Nuggets have been on the trading block this month and rumors are swirling that they are willing to trade Will Barton and Jusuf Nurkic for Los Angeles Lakers’ Lou Williams and Julius Randle.
The Nuggets wanted to trade small forward Kenneth Faried, but since they are having a hard time in getting a trade partner. With that said, they are looking to send some assets to get suitable pieces that would boost their bench as well. In getting Williams and Randle, the Nuggets would have versatility in both their offense and defense.
Williams can help spread the floor for the Nuggets, which does not need a superstar to make an impact on the league this season. The 29-year old Williams could help Emmanuel Mudiay as his backup. Williams averages 15.3 points with 2.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game while Randle could help Faried in the defending the shaded area. He could also be a backup center if the Nuggets need him to score as he averages 11.3 points with 10.2 rebounds and 0.4 blocks per game.
In the case of the Lakers, the trade would benefit them since Timofey Mozgov got injured in his international stint with the Russian basketball team. With that in mind getting Jusuf Nurkic would be a great addition to the team. Nurik averages 7.3 points with 5.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game and given his potential he would be a great addition to the Lakers.
Aside from Nurik, the Lakers will also get Will Barton, who could also help bring more shooting options for Luke Walton. The 25-year Barton averages 14.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game and could very well give Jordan Clarkson a run for his money.
The Nuggets are reported to be working on a Faried/Gary Harris trade for Randle and Nick Young, but looking at it this trade option is more viable. Having Barton and Nurkic for Lakers Williams and Randle is a simple trade – no picks added and no third team to mix in. In the end, everybody gets the needed pieces which could help them this coming season.
