The Orlando Magic had a shot of acquiring Chicago Bulls’ Jimmy Butler but denied the trade when they were asked to give up Victor Oladipo, a future first round pick and another player, according to a report.
Reports from The Community Sports Report, which has a radio show based in Florida, claimed that the Bulls made the initial offer but the Magic denied the trade proposal.
Some days later, the Magic got involved in a different trade that sent Tobias Harris to the Detroit Pistons, which sent Ersan Ilyasova and Brandon Jennings to Orlando.
“They happened. We are confused why Chicago would part ways with Butler- maybe because of friction w/ Rose, Hoiberg,” posted TCSR on Twitter when asked about the seriousness of the Butler to Orlando trade rumors.
Butler is a two-time NBA All-Star who has averages of 22.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this season. Oladipo has averages of 14.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
It is unknown which young player was included in the proposed deal by the Bulls but the Magic have lots of young prospects in Elfrid Payton, Mario Hezonja, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic.
Gordon and Vucevic were reportedly offered to the Los Angeles Clippers for star forward Blake Griffin but Doc Rivers and the Clippers denied the trade proposal in one of the NBA trade rumors reported days before the Thursday deadline.
The Magic are struggling this season with 23 wins against 29 losses at the All Star break, 10th in the Eastern Conference.
