NFL Network will be available on Playstation Vue this season

NFL fans will soon be able to watch and cheer for their favorite teams without needing a cable subscription as the NFL Network will be available on Playstation Vue this season.

Also part of the package will be NFL Redzone– a Sunday broadcast that switches among afternoon league games, covering imminent scores or interesting plays.

In an official announcement by the NFL, an agreement was reached with Sony Interactive Entertainment, for national distribution of the NFL channels via Vue.

“Sports is among the most-watched content on PlayStation Vue, and we’re pleased to add two highly coveted sports networks, NFL Network and NFL RedZone, to the service for football fans to enjoy nationwide,” said Dwayne Benefield, vice president, head of PlayStation, in their official announcement.

A streaming service that was launched by Sony last year, Vue runs using Playstation consoles and other devices like Amazon Fire TV, iOS, Android and other popular TV-connected and mobile devices. It costs anywhere from $29.99 to $44.99 each month, depending on the package that users will avail.

Presently, it is still unclear how much the NFL subscription will cost, but Sony has disclosed that customers will get standard Vue features like simultaneous streaming and cloud DVR. Subscribers will also gain access to the NFL’s Windows, mobile and box apps when they do not have access to their Vue-supported gadgets.

A more detailed breakdown of the pricing and bundles for the NFL Network and NFL Redzone will be available closer to the product launch.

With almost 200 million people who tuned in to the 2015 NFL season, the partnership with Sony is just another means for the league to expand its reach and provide quality sports entertainment to its fans. In the meantime, NFL aficionados (and console owners) can look forward to a more definite launch date- the release of Madden 17 on August 23.
