Running back Kendall Gaskins will remain with the San Francisco 49ers after being waived by the same team earlier this year. The third year RB earned a two-year deal, according to reports.
Gaskins was a practice player for the 49ers in 2014 but earned a regular roster spot by 2015. He was waived last May but did enough in the camp to earn the two-year deal.
Gaskins was undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Richmond and had to try out for various teams like the Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills and New York Giants before landing a practice player spot in San Francisco. Gaskins, who is from Burlington, New Jersey, is not assured of a starting spot for the 49ers but he will compete against the likes Carlos Hyde, Kelvin Taylor, Mike Davis and Shaun Draughn at the running back position.
By signing Gaskins, San Francisco is now set for their 90-man roster. Gaskins played in nine games in the 2015 season with 38 rushing yards on 16 attempts and 69 receiving yards on eight receptions.
