NFL Rumors: Carolina Panthers acquiring CB Joe Haden from the Cleveland Browns?

The Carolina Panthers have crashed down to Earth this season as they stumble into a 1-4 record after their latest loss to the Tamba Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The latest NFL rumors suggest that the Panthers need a new cornerback and they should trade for Joe Haden of the Cleveland Browns.

The Panthers released starting CB Bene Benwikere last Friday after he was lit up by Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, per Jones had a 300-yard game against the Panthers in Week 4 but with Benwikere gone, the team has no experience on the cornerback position.

Josh Norman was Carolina’s CB last season but he signed with the Washington Redskins this offseason. The team now has three rookies on the CB depth chart: James Bradberry, Zack Sanchez, and Daryl Worley.

According to Jason Fletcher of The Inquisitr, one player Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman can acquire before the November 1 trade deadline is Browns’ Joe Haden. He noted that Cleveland is looking to unload their CB as they falter to a 0-5 record this season.

“With Benwikere gone, Carolina is left with rookies James Bradberry, Daryl Worley and Zack Sanchez, and career journeyman Robert McClain at corner. That unit is clearly not among the elite in the NFL and adding a veteran like Joe Haden would be ideal,” Fletcher noted.

Haden is a two-time Pro-Bowler and he is currently rated as the ninth-best CB in the league with an 83.8 rating out of 100. He was limited to five games last season due to a concussion but he was one of the best corners in 2013 and 2014.

It should be noted these are just NFL rumors at the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt. However, more trade rumors will pop up with the deadline coming in just three more weeks.
