San Francisco 49ers quarterback Blaine Gabbert will remain the starting quarterback for his team even though he struggled in their last game against the Carolina Panthers. This leads to NFL rumors that San Francisco still has no plans for Colin Kaepernick to return to the starting role and that he is on his way to being traded this season.
“He’s our starter, and I’ve got a lot of confidence in Blaine. We’re not thinking or talking about not having Blaine in there. It’s about everybody on offense playing better right now,” 49ers Chip Kelly stated.
Kelly also added that the 28-year-old Gabbert still have weight issues to deal with to improve this season.
“Usually if you have a knee you can lift with your upper body, and if you have a shoulder you can lift with your lower body. But Kap was really out of the weight room for six-to-eight months,” Kelly added.
According to other NFL rumors, 49ers general manager Trent Baalke already want to cut or trade Kaepernick but Kelly wants to give the former starting QB a chance to prove himself. Kaepernick is also involved in the national anthem controversy, which has drawn mixed reactions from fans and fellow players.
Behind Gabbert, the 49ers are 1-1 thus far this season. San Francisco beat the Los Angeles Rams, 28-0 and lost to the Panthers, 46-27. Colin Kaepernick has not played in both games to add to the NFL rumors that he’ll be involved in a trade or be cut soon. The 49ers will face the Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals in their next three games.
