The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly set to meet with free agent cornerback Brandon Boykin, according to to the latest NFL rumors.
Todd Archer from ESPN.com first reported the Cowboys-Boykin meeting and this is in addition to Dallas’ interest in other players like Dax Swanson, Lawrence Okoye, Isaiah Frey, Cameron Bradfield, Brandon Hepburn and Bryan Witzmann, among others.
Boykin played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2012 to 2014 and the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015. Just 25 years old, Boykin was a practice player for the Carolina Panthers this offseason s but was released two months later.
Boykin’s most promising season came in his second year in the league, in 2014 with the Eagles when he played for 16 games and had 6 interceptions and two forced fumbles and 136 yards on fumble recoveries. For his career, Boykin is credited 145 total tackles, 2 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 37 pass deflections, 8 interceptions and 1 defensive touchdown.
Boykin has seven career starts so he has seen limited time on the field during his career. However, the Cowboys might give him a chance as he won’t demand a big contract in his free agency in these latest NFL rumors.
The Cowboys missed the postseason last year going just 4-12 in the regular season. Dallas’ struggles can be pointed to their starting quarterback Tony Romo’s injury but the veteran QB is set to return healthy in the upcoming NFL season.
Other NFL rumors involving the Dallas Cowboys has Mike Glennon being acquired via a trade although these are pure speculations for now.
