The New York Giants have lost two in a row since winning their first two games of the season and starting quarterback Eli Manning is not happy. According to the latest NFL rumors, Manning is not happy with Odell Beckham Jr.’s complaints and antics.
It has not been a great season for OBJ as he is constantly gets targeted by the defense and even the referees. He believes that he is being targeted by officials and it may have started when he blindsided Josh Norman last season.
“I just have to understand if I sneeze the wrong way, it’ll be a flag, it’ll be a fine. If I tie my shoe the wrong way, it might be a fine or a flag. It is what it is. You have to understand that,” Beckham told the Associated Press.
Odell Beckham Jr. got a taunting penalty in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes. It is not the first time this season that a CB has frustrated the 23-year-old wide receiver.
According to Yahoo! Sports, Beckham crack blocked Kenny Vaccaro of the New Orleans Saints in Week 2 and the NFL fined him $36,000. In the Week 3 loss to the Washington Redskins, he took out his anger on a kicking net but the net surprisingly won.
In a recent interview with the New York Daily News, Eli Manning expressed his frustration with his young wide receiver. He blamed the referees’ actions on Beckham himself and called him out to just play smart.
“He’s got to play smart. He can’t afford to do anything they’ll call. He’s kind of brought that upon himself, so he’s got to realize that. No doubt. Can’t afford the penalties,” Manning said.
Eli Manning calling out Odell Beckham Jr. shows what a good leader the two-time Super Bowl winner is. However, it could also cause some cracks on the Giants team overall but only time will tell if OBJ continues to let his emotions get the best of him.
