NFL Rumors: Patriots to sign Peyton Manning with Jimmy Garoppolo ruled out with an injury?

The New England Patriots are 2-0 without Tom Brady but they lost quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a shoulder injury which leaves them with a rookie QB for next game. However, the latest NFL rumors suggest that the Patriots might end up signing retired quarterback, Peyton Manning.

Tests are still being done on Garoppolo’s injury but estimates have him out for six weeks while some are saying he would be good to go for Week 4. Nevertheless, the Patriots are in need of another quarterback.

Dieter Kurtenbach of FOX Sports listed some possible QB options for New England that are still available in free agency. He named players such as Tarvaris Jackson, Matt Flynn, Jimmy Clausen, T.J. Yates, Ryan Lindley and Michael Vick.

However, Boomer Esiason has someone not on everyone’s list of possible Patriots quarterback. The NFL on CBS halftime show analyst thinks Bill Belichick should give a call to someone they are familiar with, Peyton Manning.

“I got a name for you. The guy’s not even on the list. He’s busy doing a lot of commercials. His name is Peyton Manning. Why not?” Esiason said, via CBS Sports.

It’s not a bad idea since Peyton Manning has been linked with a comeback earlier this season when Teddy Bridgewater went down for Minnesota Vikings. But Kurtenbach thinks that it is not a good idea and he listed his reasons in a different report on FOX Sports.

The Patriots have less than a week to make their decision for Week 3. They still have rookie QB Jacoby Brissett, who finished the game against the Miami Marlins.

According to Yahoo! Sports, New England likely stays with Brissett as their starter with star wide receiver Julian Edelman as his backup. Edelman played quarterback in college for the Kent State Golden Flashes.
