Blackhawks prospect Garret Ross sued for ‘revenge porn’

Chicago Blackhawks prospect Garret Ross have always dreamt of playing professional but all that will be put on hold as he was charged this month by a woman of sharing images and videos of a sexual act without her consent.

The Chicago Tribune reported that the 23-year-old left wing, who plays for the Rockford IceHogs which is an affiliate of the Blackhawks in the AHL, was charged with felony in an offense which is commonly known as “revenge porn.”– the dissemination of sexually explicit images and videos without the permission or consent of one party.

According to authorities, the victim stated that she was in an intimate relationship with one of Ross’ teammate in the IceHogs line up in September last year but immediately ended the relationship when she found out that that player already had a girlfriend. She further narrated that in the course of their intimate relation, she would exchange nude photos and videos with the said player.

The victim further stated that eventually the said player broke up with his girlfriend after finding out he was dating her via Tinder, a dating application. She also explained that Ross’ girlfriend also broke up with him after also finding out that he was dating another woman through Tinder also.

After the incidents, the victim claimed that both Ross and his teammate would send angry texts to her and accused her of “spreading lies” about them. The two event threatened to expose the videos and nude photos that she exchanged with Ross’ teammate. According to the police, Ross send the video, which enough proof of his guilt.

“The images that were shared with him were not to be disseminated, and he knew that,” Sycamore police Cmdr. Michael Anderson said.

After four months of thorough investigation and after the authorities got hold of Ross’ cellular phone, he was charged on Feb. 23 and TMZ reported that if convicted, Ross faces a possible three-year sentence in prison. But the court agreed to modify his bond that would allow him to travel as a pro athlete and nothing beyond that.

Ross was selected by the Blackhawks in the fifth round, the 139th overall pick, during the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
