Ohio State beats Nebraska, 71-50

Ohio State’s first game of the Big Ten tournament was against Nebraska. Ohio State won the opening tip and ended the night with winning the game, 71-50.

The game opened up with Sam Thompson’s 3-pointer and from there it was a roller coaster of a game for the Buckeyes, reports the Lantern.

The Buckeyes were down most of the first half up until the final minutes when they got a lead of five points before half time. The second half, the Buckeyes came out ready to play and immediately took control of the game.

Thompson finished the night with 19 points. Deshaun Thomas added 19 points and nine rebounds and Aaron Craft put up seven points and had eight assists.

It was the best night of Thompson’s career. He made 3 of 4 3-pointers that helped the Buckeyes win the game. Thompson gives the credit to the coaches over the years, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“We have great coaches. They worked me, the mechanics of the shot. I’m getting more and more comfortable,” Thompson said.

It was the second half that the Buckeyes came out to play their best. They made 17 of 22 shots while Nebraska missed 9 of 10 3-pointers. It is a good thing because Ohio State was not playing that way the first half.

Coach Thad Matta said, “Our body language wasn’t good. Guys were complaining. I said, ‘If you’re not ready to go, you will get embarrassed out there.’”

Ohio State pulled it together the second half and will now continue on in the Big 10 tournament.
