Orlando Magic Waives 12-Year NBA Veteran Jason Williams
Orlando Magic’s 12-year NBA veteran Jason Williams practiced with the team on Tuesday, but when he chose not to join them on their current road trip for their game against the Indiana Pacers at Conseco Fieldhouse, they waived him.
With the return of big man Malik Allen after recovering from his injury, the reserve point guard was going to be deactivated for Wednesday night’s game.
Williams, who is buried on the depth chart behind fellow point guards Jameer Nelson, Gilbert Arenas and Chris Duhon, was upset by this.
“I think it came to a point to where [he didn't see] the opportunity to play, and it was tough for him,” said Magic President of Basketball Operations Otis Smith. “To be quite frank with you, it was tough for him from Day One. But, still, I wish him well.
