The Ginebra Gin Kings and Meralco Bolts resume their PBA Finals Governor’s Cup best of seven series on Friday with Ginebra looking to tie up the series. Meralco won the close match-up last game to grab the 2-1 lead in the championship series with all the games so far decided by five points or less.
Game 1: Meralco 114, Ginebra 109 (OT)
Game 2: Ginebra 82, Meralco 79
Game 3: Meralco 107, 103
In Game 1, Meralco came back from double digits to steal the game in overtime. Bolts import Allen Durham exploded for 46 points and added 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Chris Newsome led the locals with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists.
In Game 2, Meralco rallied again from double digits but Sol Mercado made the big basket at crunchtime to tie the series. It was the Kings import Justin Brownlee turn to explode for 32 points with 12 rebounds and 3 steals. Mercado had 12 points.
In Game 3, Meralco took control in the final quarter behind the three-point shooting of Jimmy Alapag and Reynel Hugnatan. Durham had another double-double with 36 points and 20 rebounds. Alapag had 18 points including four three-pointers while Hugnatan added 17 points with three three-pointers at crunchtime.
