Ever since Netflix released Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2 for the viewers, people are anticipating Daredevil Season 3 release date. However, with the recent announce of the show runners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez being shifted to The Defenders, the future of the series hangs in balance. Marvel may not be interested in releasing the season 3 of the Devils of Hell’s Kitchen and start concentrating more on its other series’ like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage.
The Defenders are like The Avengers of the Marvel-Netflix universe. The show will feature each of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron fist who are already gaining huge fan bases with their own Netflix series. Marvel is expecting huge things from The Defenders and would likely not jeopardize the chances of the show by shifting its focus on season 3 of Daredevil.
Charlie Cox, who plays the masked vigilante of New York recently announced at a two-day event arranged by Netflix in Paris that The Defenders will go into production later this year. On being asked about the possibility of a Daredevil Season 3, Cox’s reply was not what the fans would love to hear.
“We don’t know if there’s going to be a season three. I certainly don’t know.” Cox said, as reported by The Independent.
Although fans will be able to see Cox slip into the crimson suit sometime in the future, it won’t be for his individual series. Netflix likes to keep a gap of six months between its Marvel releases. The release of Jessica Jones Season 2 has already been pushed back for Luke Cage, which is set to hit the streaming platform on Sept. 30, 2016.
Iron Fist and The Defenders are already waiting in the queue to hog their spotlight. With so many shows on the line, Daredevil Season 3 is not looking to see the light of day anytime soon and is not high on the interest list of Marvel.
