Dragon Ball Super reveals a Dragon Ball GT spinoff which will feature a new transformation reaching as high as Super Saiyan 4.
Todayoshi Yamamuro, the director of Dragon Ball Super, confirmed about Dragon Ball GT spinoff to showcase new plots and characters.
However, many fans were not happy about this news since the previous spinoff release didn’t work out well. They wonder why release it again.
During an interview with Mission Tokyo, Yamamuro acknowledged the failure of the spinoff series to blast like a canon when it was first released specifically in its first 100 episodes.
He might have thought that this time, it will work out best with Dragon Ball Super. That being said, he already have acquired permission from creator Akira Toriyama approving the creation of Dragon Ball GT, Blasting News reported.
He told that there would be new transformation modes to appear in the spinoff like those appeared in Dragon Ball Super. These are the Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan Blue, Super Saiyan 3, and Super Saiyan 4.
Upon confirmation, it seemed like there’s no turning back for the spinoff release. However, some doubted its possibility since Akira Toriyama is not responsible for the animation.
He is only the creator of Dragon Ball as a manga. But Toei Animation does for anime and the spinoffs.
Yamamuro explained that indeed Toei Animation wrote the Dragon Ball GT script and not Akira Toriyama. He said that the similarities of both were merely conincidence.
The spinoff will cover some aspects of Dragon Ball Super that were not part of the manga. He said the spinoff will focus on massive battle stories which will include the new transformation modes, University Herald mentioned.
In the meantime, many speculations remained uncertain whether or not Dragon Ball Super will have its spinoff series. If that happens, fans could anticipate the arrival of Dragon Ball GT sometime later as well.
