Game of Thrones Season 6 episode 1 premiered on August 24, 2016, and presented a huge twist to the plot. However, it never directly dealt with the main man of the hour, Jon Snow. Although with how episode 1 ended, it is certain that Rob Stark’s last male lineage’s journey on the show is not over yet.
Is Jon Snow dead? The answer to that question would be yes. Jon Snow is dead after being brutally stabbed during the Season 5 finale. However, will he return? That answer to that question also has to be yes. Although the show did not bluntly point out his return, there were few hints given which highlighted this.
Ever since the season five finale, there have been several theories which point to the fact that the real “Jon Snow will return.” However, the major hint from the first episode of Game of Thrones Season 6 was when Davos and the Night’s Watch brother Edd decided to protect Snow’s body. There was also a moment when Davos revealed Melisandre’s power to one of the men who doubted her ability.
“You haven’t seen her do what I’ve seen her do.” Davos said.
This refers back to Season 2 when Davos saw Melisandre give birth to a shadow demon. The shadow figure then stealthily went into Renly Baratheon’s tent to murder him.
To highlight how powerful Melisandre is, it was also shown towards the end of the recently launched episode that Melisandre is actually an old woman. The power of her young beauty lies in the necklace which she wears.
So, when one considers what she has done with the shadow-demon as well as her age using her powers, one would know that the resurrection of Jon Snow is not far away. HBO has already released the name of the next two Game of Thrones Season 6 episodes, with the third one titled “Oathbreaker”.
If one goes by the name, Jon Snow will break the oath of the Night’s Watch after he comes back to life and go on to rally the North against the Boltons. So, is his return on the cards? Only time will tell.
