Actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, wishes for a meaningful death to her character as Game of Thrones Season 7 starts its filming. Rumors are swirling that her character will make hard choices as the story progresses.
Speaking to Variety, Turner noted that she has many choices as to the path which her character will take. She hinted that she could either join forces with Petyr Baelish or rule Winterfell on the side of her supposed half-brother Jon Snow, who turns out to be his cousin.
But looking at the reaction during the Comic-Con held in San Diego, Turner does not seem to believe that Jon is capable of ruling Winterfell. Thus, fans and viewers could expect Sansa to turn her back against Jon and help Baelish with his plans to rule the North and eventually sit on the iron throne.
“I actually don’t know because of the way last season left off. There are so many options. She could run with Littlefinger and become a villain and sadistic. Or she could also team up with her brother Jon,” Turner said.
Turner’s line of statement reveals her wish for her character to have a meaningful death towards the end of the season. She even hinted that she wanted a whole episode dedicated to her death alone. Aside from her character’s death wish, Turner also expresses sadness after knowing that the show is bound for an ending after Season 8.
Just like other actors on the show, Turner calls everyone on the set “family.” Turner having grown with everyone on set for the last seven years and the thought of the show’s ending burdens her heart.
But before the end comes to Turner and to others, new characters are set to juggle up the set in the coming season. With Cersei killing a majority of characters in King’s Landing, there is truly a need to bring in new characters. According to Watchers on the Wall, there are about nine new characters worth the wait till the show airs by summer of next year.
Among the characters to watch for next season will include a General; a priest; a warrior; a gate guard; a city guard; a merchant; a lovely lady; a young Lord; and a Lieutenant. Most of these characters will require them to be able to speak the British language as it is the language use in King’s Landing. Other places within the seven kingdoms have a different accent that distinguishes them from other places.
No names have been given yet to fill in the new roles. But one thing is for sure, fans and viewers have something to look forward to aside from the war that is about to come to Westeros. Turner will have big decisions to make in the coming season and it surely is intriguing.
