Korean celebrity outlets have confirmed that actor Jung Il Woo has announced that he will be enlisting this December. Though fans of the star are surely disappointed, a slight complication regarding his health may actually keep the 29-year old celebrity from doing active military service.
Unconfirmed reports from website AllKPop say that Jung Il Woo has been diagnosed with an ailment called a cerebral aneurysm. Due to the life-threatening risk of the condition, the actor could apparently be exempted from his military duties if he would choose to have himself re-examined.
Jung Il Woo a brain aneurysm traced to the car accident?
Jung Il Woo’s medical condition may also be attributed to an accident that he suffered from Lee Min-ho in August 2006 wherein the two were involved in a car crash during a trip to Gangwon. The accident killed their driver and seriously injured Jung Il Woo and Lee Min-ho.
“Lee Min-ho was bedridden for months after the crash as he suffered serious leg injuries. His thigh and ankle bones suffered fractures and his knee cartilage was torn due to the mishap,” reported Asia Times. “Jung Il-woo suffered the concussion, brain hemorrhage, and partial amnesia.”
Jung Il Woo also suffered a severe wrist injury wherein the bones were crushed to pieces. His pelvic bone was also broken which presently is supposedly still undergoing recovery.
Because of these injuries, Il Woo, as well as Lee Min-ho are eligible for Public Interest Service. The two Korean stars will just have to undergo community service rather than the mandatory military service for two years.
In this regard, there is the possibility that Jung Il Woo may still be able to continue doing some acting work, which fans will surely be pleased to hear.
Otherwise, hopefully, Jung Il Woo will remain in good health and be cleared from his supposed aneurysm.
