The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige recently confirmed that production for Avengers: Infinity War will start in January 2017. While we wait for the film to release, one of the studio executives took to Twitter to tease fans.
Earlier this morning, Marvel Studio’s producer Louis D’Esposito gave an update on the upcoming Marvel movie, possibly hinting a plot. D’Esposito posted a photo on Twitter, revealing that he was currently in the “coolest Avengers: Infinity War meeting.”
Marvel Producer Teases Fans
His tweet showed a cover of the Infinity Gauntlet comic series. It is the first in Marvel’s biggest crossover series, with Infinity War is the second. The latest tease sparks speculations that the upcoming movie and its untitled sequel may have elements of both comic stories, though not confirmed yet.
The Infinity Gauntlet comic series tells the story of Thanos as he assembles all of the Infinity stones. According to Cosmic Book, it’s a six-issue comic book series written by Jim Starlin back in 1991. It features a vast array of Marvel characters who unite to defeat him, but their plan did not go well. It resulted to Thanos killing off most of the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, along with Daredevil.
While the studio is not doing a full adaptation, Infinity Gauntlet is a big inspiration for the MCU. Rumors are rife that the upcoming Avengers movie is, in fact, a crossover between both Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War comics.
A rumored plot description also surfaced claiming that Thanos is trying to impress “the personification of Death.” Speculations suggest that she may, in fact, be the Mistress of Death. Thanos’ “grand plan” is to wipe out half of the planet to impress her enough so that she will fall for him. However, Marvel has yet to confirm the rumor.
