Last week, Kanye West’s breakdown prompted a visit to UCLA Medical Center. Initial reports claimed that it was simply due to dehydration and exhaustion. As the days went by, it becomes more apparent that water and bed rest would not be enough for the hip-hop artist.
Most especially since his case was eventually labeled as “extreme paranoia” stemming from a “nervous breakdown.” Since then, insiders close to West have also indicated that the breakdown may be attributed to his mother’s death anniversary which was on November 20.
“Our sources say the trigger for the breakdown was Donda’s (Kanye’s mother) death back in November 2007,” claimed TMZ. “Her funeral was November 20 — the same day he canceled his show at the L.A. Forum. The following day — November 21 — Kanye canceled the remainder of the tour and hours later suffered the breakdown.”
Kanye West’s breakdown stems from Donda West death anniversary
Donda West passed away at age 58 after complications from her elective surgery arose. Reports say that Kanye was not able to grieve properly at that time and that he blamed himself for her death.
“Speaking to Q Magazine last year, when asked what in his life he’s sacrificed for his success, the Grammy winner said-My mom,” reported Daily Mail.
“If I had never moved to L.A. she’d be alive,” Kanye added during the interview. “I don’t want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears.”
These problems have not stopped the rapper from going on with his work, though. Sources have reported that Kanye West is still at it in the hospital, sketching fashion and even asking Kim Kardashian to bring his recording equipment.
‘Kanye keeps wanting to work. At the hospital, he requested that recording equipment is brought to the hospital so he can record in his bed,” a source told US Weekly. “And he has kept asking to see sketches of his fashion lines. He continues to want to work and Kim has to keep telling him to rest.”
Maybe, just for now, Kanye should listen to Kim.
