“A controversy surrounding the defense puts Stone (John Turturro) in the spotlight as Naz’s (Riz Ahmed) trial reaches its climax.”

In the last episode, Naz’s trial became more intense as he now stands in the defense phase. The pathologist revealed that Naz’s hand left a traced in the knife used in killing Andrea. After hearing it, Safar, Naz’s mother, lost hope with the case of her son and felt that he really did the crime.

John Stone and Chandra were making their own investigations that could prove Naz’s innocence. So far, there were a number of suspects in their mind who can possibly kill Andrea. These include Don (Andrea’s stepfather), the hearse driver, and Duane Reade.

Also, Detective Box could possibly change his mind and believe that Naz is innocent. There is a possibility that Box will reveal why he removed Naz’s inhaler from the crime scene. Chandra speculated that it was removed to convince that Naz really killed Andrea.

In the nearing end of The Night Of, fans can’t help themselves but ask if there will be a continuation or a possibility for another season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Steven Zaillian said that there have been discussions about another installment.

“We’re thinking about it and if we come up with something we all feel is worthy of doing, we’ll do it,” executive producer, writer, and director Steven Zaillian told reporters. “This was designed as a stand-alone piece. …  That being said, there are ways of certainly kind of taking what it feels like and what it’s about and doing another season on another subject.”

The Night Of season will surely give a hint if there will be a season 2 or not. For now, fans should prepare themselves for the nearing climax of Naz’s trial. Is he guilty or not?
