“Supergirl” Season 2 takes a short Christmas break with the sophomore installment set for a Jan. 16 return.
The show’s mid-season finale features a mysterious alien race looking for Mon-El. With the villains in town, major crossovers are likely to take place starting with Supergirl and The Flash. The crossovers will likely stretch Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow under the title that has something to do with “Invasions.”
In Season 2 episode 8, Supergirl managed to encourage Lena Luthor to stop the launch of the Medusa virus. Aside from the main character, she got help from J’onn’s Green who also dealt with Cyborg Superman. But as things were falling into place, Barry Allen, and Cisco Ramon shows up to enlist Kara’s help.

The episode ends with major cliffhangers about an invasion that is about to happen. The story of the invasion will start on “The Flash” season 3 episode 8 then “Arrow” season 5 episode 8. The story concludes on Legends of Tomorrow season 2 episode 7.
According to Premier TV, the first installment of Season 2 has earned a solid audience share of 3.51 million. “Supergirl” aired its last episode on Nov. 28 before taking a Christmas break in preparation for the sophomore installment.
The sophomore installment will premiere with episode 9 entitled “Supergirl Lives.” No details as to the synopsis of the story which will likely take off with the “invasion” series. But speculations states that the story will likely take on the unproduced film “Superman Lives.”
“Supergirl” Season 2 shows Kara embracing her new identity as Kara Danvers, who is stronger and more focused. Season 2 premiered when Kara finds an unconscious man in the Kryptonian pod. It is still unknown what business the mysterious aliens have with Mon-El and how it affects his relationship with Kara.
