Wynona Ryder defends Johnny Depp in the midst of domestic violence accusations

Before Amber Heard married the Edward Scissorhands actor, Johnny Depp last year she was said to have been hesitant but tied the knot anyway. Right after their marriage in Los Angeles the new couple fled to Johnny Depp’s private island in the Bahamas for a second wedding celebration.  It seemed the perfect start of a fresh new life.

Last November, Heard said in an interview that her marriage to Depp was in a difficult stage being “strange and hard.”

Last May Amber Heard submitted a photo evidence showing her bruised right eye, accusing Depp of domestic violence; a testament of how hard it was living with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor. The accusation further states that this was not just an isolated incident, but was only the latest incident.  She filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences.

The accusation of domestic abuse paints a new picture of the multi-talented actor, who is regarded as one of the world’s biggest stars. However, the actor’s ex-girlfriend, Wynona Ryder, has gone public today to defend Depp.

Ryder, who dated Depp for four years, described him as good, loving and caring.  She said, “I can only speak from my own experience, which was wildly different than what is being said.  He was never, never that way towards me. Never abusive at all towards me. I only know him as a really good, loving, caring guy who is very, very protective of the people that he loves.”

She said that she finds the accusations unimaginable, and such a serious thing to be accused of.

She further states, “I wasn’t there. I don’t know what happened. I’m not calling anyone a liar. I’m just saying, it’s difficult and upsetting for me to wrap my head around it. Look, it was a long time ago, but we were together for four years, and it was a big relationship for me. Imagine if someone you dated when you were – I was 17 when I met him – was accused of that.  It’s just shocking. I have never seen him be violent towards a person before.”

What makes things interesting is that Depp’s past relations have come forward, too, in his defense. Both Vanessa Paradis and Lori Anne Allison echoed Ryder’s statements in an ironic twist of events. Paradis was involved with Depp for 14 years, while Allison was the actor’s first wife.

For his part, Johnny Depp says he just wants this short marriage dissolved quickly.
