Pau Gasol expected to be back on the court Thursday

Pau Gasol is expected to be back on the court playing with the Los Angeles Lakers during their game Thursday against the Miami Heat.

The Associated Press reported that Gasol has missed five games due to a concussion from Denver’s JaVale McGee’s elbow to the face. The Lakers have won two straight heading into Thursday’s game but their playoff chances are still unclear.

Gasol played with injured Steve Blake today at practice. Blake has been out since November 11 with abdomen and groin injuries. While Gasol looks like he will return Thursday, Blake will not, according to Lakers.com.

Gasol appears to be in good spirits despite missing five games.

In a recent interview he said, “The struggling of getting up every day and not getting better, constant headaches, being bothered by light or noise and not knowing what the next day will be like or not knowing when you’ll be healthy. You do a little research about concussions and it’s an unfortunate hit, but those can happen any day or any game. If you get concussed the second time, it’s a lot more dangerous.”
