Pirlo, Giovinco and Balotelli out of Italy’s Euro squad

Italy’s 30 man  squad for Euro 2016 has been revealed by Italian coach Antonio Conte, and Mario Balloteli, Andrea Pirlo , and Sebastian Giovinco are nowhere to be found in the list.

Although the squad is still to be reduced to an official 23 man squad on the midnight of May 31, it is said that there will no longer be any addition to Conte’s list.

Balotelli has shown his excitement for the Euro 2016 in his Instagram account, but unfortunately, the Liverpool striker who is currently on loan for AC Milan won’t be joining to play with the Italian squad. Balotelli was able to take Italy tp the Euro 2012’s finals with his goals on Italy’s game against Germany.

Pirlo and Giovinco, who are both playing in the MLS now, will also not be present in June at the Euro 2016. Both players have not been called out for previous friendly matches either.

Antonio Conte spoke last Tuesday at a press conference, and explained that he has already contacted Pirlo and sent someone to talk to him, but the team has already made other choices. He added that the team has already evaluated Pirlo and Giovinco technically and that the two star players should pay the consequences of playing in MLS, in footballing terms.

Some players that have been included in the list are Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci, Simone Zaza and Andrea Barzagli all from Juventus, Angelo Ogbonna from West Ham and Matteo Darmian of Manchester United. Goalkeepers include Salvatore Sirigu of PSG, Gianluigi Buffon of Juventus and Federico Marchetti of Lazio.
