Rumors: Captain Jonny Law of ‘Deadliest Catch Dungeon Cove’ seen as a typical Sig Hansen?

Discovery Channel has yet to start airing the spin-off series “Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove” and already rumors are swirling as Captain Jonny Law is already being compared to FV Northwestern skipper Sig Hansen.

The Inquistr reports that Captain Law, who man’s one of the largest boats in the fleet called Lady Law, is considered as one toughest captains. Like Hansen, Captain Law has spent his lifetime fishing. Aside from that, he drives hard at his crew on long hours of grinding to produce a boatload of crabs.

Many see him as tough to work with, but he easily finds people to join his crew. Captain Law’s 30-years of fishing experience is his magnet in being one of the top producers of the fleet. His experience will once again be tested when the spin-off series premieres on Sept. 13 at 9 p.m.

“Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove” a new kind of crabbing, unlike the ones Hansen and the fleet in the Bering Sea are doing. For one, the pots used by Captain Law and the others are small and round. The pots can easily be thrown and retrieve. “Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove” uses a different style of crabbing which called the derby style of fishing, which is basically catching all they can during the Dungeness crab season.

One of the biggest challenge for Captain Law and the fleet of “Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove” will have to face is how the will manage to fish close to shore. It is a tricky move as they could run aground or hit big rocks as they move around their way fishing.

Aside from Captain Law, other members of the fleet that will include the cast of the “Deadliest Catch: Dungeon Cove” include Captain Mikey Retherford Jr. and his brother Chris Retherford; Captain Gary “the Ripper” Ripka together with his son Kenny; and Captain Marc Sehlbach.

Following the success of the “Deadliest Catch” will be something to look forward with “Dungeon Cove.” Captain Law and the rest of the fleet will have to battle their way against unforgiving climate conditions, concealed sandbars, and to a great degree solid and lethal streams that have created a few wrecks.
