The Miami Heat led by Dwyane Wade failed in their bid for a dream match-up against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. According to the latest NBA rumors, the Heat are serious in their pursuit of free agent Kevin Durant this summer with the franchise going all-in in signing the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar.

Dan Le Batard of ESPN claims that the Heat’s main plan this offseason is to first sign Kevin Durant and prioritize his signing over own Heat free agents like shooting guard Dwyane Wade and center Hassan Whiteside.

“The plan is and always has been: Go after Durant and free everything up – so much so that you insulted your superstar this offseason by telling Dwyane Wade now for multiple years, even though that’s what he wanted. Dwyane, who deserves more of your allegiances as business and a company and management than Chris Bosh does. Because the whole thing is to get in a room with Durant after this season,” Le Batard said on his ESPN radio show.

“What I’m telling you, no matter how much you laugh at it, is that the Heat is getting in the room with Durant. Now, what happens from there, who knows? But you can sit here and laugh at it all you want, but the plan, the construct is – the priority, the No. 1 thing this offseason – is get in the room with Durant.”

As early as the last offseason the Heat were one of the teams in NBA rumors that are reportedly interested in Kevin Durant when he becomes a free agent after the season. Lots of other teams will also chase Durant, with franchises like the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors, among others, this summer.

Will the Heat be successful in their bid to land the top free agent Kevin Durant in the 2016 offseason? NBA rumors concerning Durant will continue despite the fact that OKC is still in the NBA Playoffs and contending for a title. Will KD leave OKC for another team next season?
