New Orleans Pelicans power forward Ryan Anderson is set to hit the market as an unrestricted free agent this summer. Anderson wants to gauge the market and is interested in teams like the Houston Rockets and the Washington Wizards.
Anderson was one of the hottest sought after guys in February trade deadline due to his ability to space the floor as a power forward.
“For me, I want to play all the cards. I want to enjoy this process and see where New Orleans is at this summer,” Anderson recently said. “I want to see where I don’t know, Houston is at or Sacramento or Washington. So for me, I’m not going to say, ‘Listen, I want a trade’ when I don’t know what’s going to happen this summer.”
Anderson could have played the Eastern Conference finals and had the Cleveland Cavaliers not chosen to sign big-man Channing Frye during the February trade deadline instead of him.
“There was a very last-minute phone call that I could have gone to Cleveland. I would be playing for the Cavs right now,” Anderson said on J.J. Redick’s podcast in the vertical.
The fear of losing the star power forward in free agency for nothing, now looms large on the New Orleans Pelicans. Anderson moving out of the Pelicans in this summer looks like a real possibility at this moment.
“I’m excited for this summer to kind of be an unrestricted free agent, finally, and feel things out, have my decision be the one that matters”, the power forward also added to clarify his stance. And some teams are already eyeing him.
