Saints coach Sean Payton has a summer job
While his players take some time off before training camp starts on July 25, Sean Payton has been caddying for PGA Tour golfer Ryan Palmer at this week’s Greenbrier Classic.
In an interview from the PGA Tour posted on the New Orleans Saints website, Sean Payton talks about caddying and comparisons between the golf and football atmosphere. He also has realized that this isn’t a normal vacation thing to do.
“What started as a plan of vacationing here at the Greenbrier for a week, after two days I’ve quickly realized, this isn’t a vacation,” Payton said. “But I’m excited about it.”
According to Yahoo! Sports, Payton and Palmer have been friends for a while and the idea of Payton caddying came up while the coach was having dinner with Palmer’s usual caddie.
The other caddies took to the Saints coach pretty quickly, making sure he knew where the caddies ate and stayed. He is the celebrity caddie of the PGA Tour.
Used to being a coach and on the sideline, Payton has taken to being a caddie very well and seems to be just as serious about this as he will be when he returns to the field with the Saints this fall.
