San Francisco Giants lose on walk-off hit
The San Francisco Giants lost, 4-3, against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a walk-off hit on Saturday night.
Eric Chavez scored a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning, that led the Diamondbacks to a victory over the Giants.
Four innings into the game, the Giants were trailing 3-0, and the score stayed constant until the sixth inning, Inside Bay Area News reported.
But in the seventh inning, Gregor Blanco hit a home run, breaking the streak, against Diamondbacks’ Trevor Cahill.
Eury De La Rosa came onto the mound in place of Cahill and struck out Brandon Belt, but Buster Posey tied the game with a single against Arizona’s third pitcher Josh Collmenter.
Angel Pagan hit and stole second base and made it to third base on a wild pitch, and soon after scored on Martin Scutaro’s triple.
Giants’ starting right-hand pitcher Ryan Vogelsong just came off of the disabled list, and in six innings, he gave up three runs and allowed nine hits from the Diamondbacks, The Associated Press reported.
