Santonio Holmes may miss first four games of season
Remember the BOLD prediction I made that Rex Ryan would be fired by Week 5? Well, that prediction may really come true now that New York Jets receiver Santonio Holmes may miss the first four games of the season.
According to the New York Post, Holmes told his friends that he expects to miss at least the first four games of the year with a foot injury. This would leave Mark Sanchez and/or Geno with Stephen Hill, Clyde Gates, Kellen Winslow and the loveable Braylon Edwards as the best receivers – not exactly the formula for a potent passing attack – or wins for that matter.
As NFL.com notes, Holmes is suffering from the always tough Lisfranc injury and reportedly can’t run or put weight on his foot. Holmes is currently on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list and, as SB Nation points out, players who start the regular season on the PUP list are out for the first six games. As SB Nation also notes, the Jets totaled just 3,178 receiving yards last season which put them at third-lowest in the NFL.
