The Satanic Temple’s values are closer to Christian teachings? After School Satan clubs allowed

Education ought to mold the youth into well-rounded individuals, and to promote critical thinking to prepare them for the challenges of life. One organization that shares such a sound approach is a New York City based group called The Satanic Temple.

And they have been given an approval to visit and start After School Satan clubs in public schools. In fact, The Inquisitr reports that nine schools in major cities such as Los Angeles, Seattle and Washington, D.C. have already signed up for the program.

The Satanic Temple wants to start their After School Satan Clubs in institutions where the Christian program Good News Club is in operation to counter its religious “indoctrination.”

This is the group’s response to the Supreme Court’s ruling, which allows evangelical religious groups to preach in schools, which they claim to instill “a fear of Hell and God’s wrath” and they want to replace it “rationality, free inquiry and fun”.

The group does not believe nor teach about a literal Satan, a supernatural being.

The Satanic Temple uses Satan’s image only to promote egalitarianism, social justice, and it lobbies against Christian groups’ message of fear that they say interferes with people’s personal freedom.

It is a metaphor, which encourages the rejection of all forms of tyranny over the human mind.

Their mission is to encourage benevolence and empathy among all people, which its co-founder, Lucien Greaves says is more close to the idea of Christian values. The image of Satan serves more of an idea of rebellion and rational inquiry, or common sense.

“We prefer to give children an appreciation of the natural wonders surrounding them, not a fear of everlasting other-worldly horrors.” Lucien Greaves said, as reported by the Express.

“It’s critical that children understand that there are multiple perspectives on all issues, and that they have a choice in how they think.” He added.

The Satanic Temple does not want to operate in schools where the Good News Club isn’t present, and states that it is only because of the Christian group’s presence in schools that they felt the need to counter it.

The point of The Satanic Temple is that if the govt. lets one religion into public schools, it needs to let others in it, too; otherwise it becomes an establishment of religion.
