Serena Williams loses U.S. Open and fined
Phenomenal tennis player Serena Williams had a great run in the U.S. Open but it ended bad as she lost and was hit with a fine for verbal abuse towards the chair umpire.
According to Forbes, Williams lost to Samantha Stosur and to make matters worse was given a $2,000 fine for berating the umpire in the U.S. open final.
During the match Williams yelled out “Come on” to give herself a bit of motivation and chair umpire Eva Asderaki awarded a point to Stosur.
Williams was definitely not pleased with the call and showed everyone when she approached the judge for a small chat in which she lashed out with a couple of rude comments.
“If you ever see me walking down the hall, look the other way, because you’re out of control. … You’re a hater, and you’re just unattractive inside. Who would do such a thing? ” said Williams. “Give me a code violation because I expressed my emotion? We’re in America last time I checked. Really, don’t even look at me, don’t look my way.”
Williams has since apologized for her behavior by tweeting that she was caught in the moment and allowed emotions to get the best of her.
