Snowden first trailer leaked, movie coming this year

The first teaser for Oliver Stone’s upcoming true-to-life spy thriller Snowden was shown almost a year ago, but the first trailer gives us a much closer look of what exactly going on the spy community and tell us the true story behind one of the world’s most controversial whistleblower, Edward Snowden.

The Oliver Stone’s upcoming movie is said to be revolve around a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) employee, Edward Snowden, who leaked thousands of classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) in 2013 finally has a full trailer.

Rumors are rife on the web that the Oliver Stone’s masterpiece ‘Snowden’ is now coming this year. An earlier report published by Gizmodo shows that Snowden follows the Snowden documentary Citizenfour, which was put together by Laura Poitras. The new high-tech, spy thriller version is being directed by Oliver Stone and will feature power cast, which include Nicolas Cage, Shailene Woodley and Zachary Quinto. But the real star of this highly controversial true-to-life spy thriller is Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The first trailer gives us the comprehensive overview of Snowden’s life, starting with his military career that was cut short after Snowden broke both of his legs. It also follow Snowden’s path from a Special Forces candidate in the US Army Reserves to his work at the CIA and NSA before making an escape to Russia.

There’s also Snowden’s personal life, including his relationship with his girlfriend, which played by Shailene Woodley. Finally, the climax of the story, Snowden’s hugely popular decision to reveal the NSA’s surveillance activities to the public through the media. The trailer shows more about Snowden’s uncertainty with the US government’s massive surveillance activities.

Interestingly, only a few veteran actors have been brought on board for the upcoming movie, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the infamous whistleblower.

Actor Zachary Quinto will join Gordon-Levitt as journalist Glenn Greenwald, along with Melissa Leo playing documentarian Laura Poitras. Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage is also on board as some sort of high-profile government figure, but his exact role in the movie remain a mystery.

In addition, there’s some hints about this new trailer, its more similar to The Social Network. Snowden is expected to hit the US screens later this year, but Gizmodo gives us some detailed information about it release date, September 16, 2016.
