Barcelona vs. Celtic Preview

Barcelona is coming off a shocking 2-1 loss to Alaves but they are expected to have a full squad going into their first game in the UEFA Champions League. The home side will have their MSN trio, who just came on as substitutes against Alaves, starting the game.

On the other hand, Celtic has the momentum heading into Camp Nou as they defeated Old Firm rivals Rangers 5-1. It also marks the Scottish champions’ return to the Champions League after missing the competition the last three seasons.

The pressure is on new Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, who insisted that his club does not fear Barcelona. He told the media via The Independent that they are not afraid of playing against Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

“We won’t be fearful. As a manager, in every game you go into you have to believe you can get a positive result. We respect that this is arguably the best team in the world with a front three that is maybe one of the best of all time,” Rodgers said.

Barcelona and Celtic are regularly paired in the Champions League having met in group stages in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2013. Barcelona has won seven out of the 12 meetings overall against Celtic but the Scottish side had a memorable 2-1 win against them in 2012.
