Bundesliga club Borussia Bortmund’s transfer target Ousmane Dembele has revealed his destination next season. English Premier League club Liverpool are also in reckoning to sign the French teenage forward. Both the clubs are willing to meet Rennes’ valuation of $40 million for the player.
“I do hope to be playing Champions League [next season], but I know where I’m going and it’s final.” Dembele said, as reported by Sports-Nova.
The 18-year-old has given hints previously that he would love to continue his career with the Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund. Dembele also visited Dortmund’s training ground with his mother last month. Rennes is also rumored to be interested to sell their teenage sensation to Dortmund who has already expressed the desire to meet the proper valuation of the player, according to theguardian.com.
European heavyweights Barcelona and Bayern Munich were known to be interested in the player and had scouted him for a long time. This made Liverpool take extra curiosity in the teenager from Vernon, France. Anfield supremo Jurgen Klopp is said to be interested in signing the player and has reportedly spoken with Dembele this week.
Ousmane Dembele has scored 12 goals in 25 appearances for Rennes in the French Ligue 1 this season. Having a pass accuracy of 73%, the Frenchman has created 40 chances, according to Squawka.com.
Arsenal and Chelsea are also holding an interest in the player and may move for his signature this summer. Dembele is the youngest player ever to score 10 goals in Ligue 1 and has been voted young player of the year last week.
Recent Premier League champions Leicester City were also interested to sign Dembele, but the forward has clearly mentioned that he will not join the Foxes this summer. The reason behind this was Leicester coach Claudio Ranieri’s inability to speak good French.
