Former Manchester City defender and England player Danny Mills is all out that Tottenham will raise the English Premier League Cup at the end of the season.
Mills, who is a regular BBC radio specialist, made his bold prediction over Sport Lobster stating that the race towards the coveted title was blown wide open weekend.
“I’m sticking my neck on the line and tipping Tottenham to win the Premier League. There’s always something with Arsenal that makes you have doubts. Spurs, defensively, are very sound and as I’ve mentioned before. Spurs have only conceded 20 goals in 26 games and that’s why I’m backing them to go all the way. Every good team is built on a solid defence. Look at Mourinho’s Chelsea team last season. Success is born out of consistency at the back and Tottenham have that,” Mills said.
Tottenham is tied on points with Arsenal and both squads are just two points away from league leader Leicester City. However, Tottenham is in the lead over Arsenal in the goal difference, giving the Spurs and advantage in the race for the title.
Aside from his bold prediction, Mills also had praise for Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino an excellent manger and tactician.
“He’s gone three at the back at times to negate the likes of Watford who play with two up front and has developed a very strong, stable squad who are all playing for each other. Tottenham have never failed before in the modern era, they’ve never been close enough. Arsenal have and sometimes that can be your undoing,” Mills added.
Tottenham will continue its title hunt when they meet West Ham on March 3 while Arsenal sets a date with Swansea City. Despite its lost to Arsenal, Leicester City, on the other hand, will have a busy schedule as they aim to get back on track when they face Norwich City on February 27 and the take on West Brom on March 3.
