Football Transfer Rumors: PSG looking to sign Liverpool striker for £50 million

2015-16 Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain are already preparing for the summer transfer window. The latest football transfer rumors say that the French club is looking to sign a Liverpool striker for a staggering £50 million transfer fee.

According to a report by Neil Ashton of The Sun, PSG is preparing for the departure of two of its world-class strikers, Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, this coming summer.

So which Liverpool striker is linked with the French champions?

Christian Benteke? Nope. Mario Balotelli? Yes, he’s still a Liverpool player on loan at AC Milan. But no, he’s not the rumored £50 million PSG target.

The striker we’re talking about is Daniel Sturridge, the 26-year-old England international who has 65 career goals in the Premier League. Sturridge is known for his quick pace as well as his football technique.

However, he is one of the most injury-prone players in football. Sturridge has already missed a handful of games this campaign due to several knocks including knee and hamstring injuries.

Ashton mentioned in his report that PSG will be sending officials to watch Sturridge during the England vs. Netherlands friendly on Tuesday, March 29. The striker has expressed his desire to leave Anfield despite a new five-year deal signed last year.

On the other hand, Cavani and Ibrahimovic are also part of the latest football transfer rumors. Ashton noted that Cavani is “expected” leave France and join a Premier League club in England.

At the same time, Ibrahimovic is sure to leave PSG when his contract expires in July. “For the moment, I won’t be at PSG next season. I still have a month and a half of competition left. What happens next year, for the moment, I don’t know about it,” Ibrahimovic told BeIN Sports via

However, there is a way to convince Zlatan to stay at the French capital. “If they replace the Eiffel Tower with a statue of me, I will stay at PSG. I can promise that,” the Swedish striker joked.
