English Premier League (EPL) side Liverpool could see their misfit striker Mario Balotelli leave for Lazio this summer after the Italian spent a year-long loan at A.C. Milan last season. Lazio wants to keep the striker continue plying his trade in Italy as their new managerial target Cesare Prandelli is a huge admirer of the player.
Mario is not difficult to manage; he is not a bad guy. I will keep on supporting him, he has a great potential.” Prandelli said, as reported by Daily Express. It has to be noted that Prandelli has coached Balotelli before during their time with the Italy national team. Balotelli had the best time of his playing career under the manager at Euro 2012.
The 25-year-old Balotelli has scored only one goal for Milan last season in his 20 appearances for the club. His dismal season in Italy was rounded off with one assist and a shot accuracy of 43%, as reported by Squawka.com.
During the 2014-15 season with Liverpool, Balotelli had another dismal year as the former Manchester City striker scored only 1 goal in 16 appearances in the English Premier League. The supporters at Anfield were never a fan of the Italian and will be happy to see him make a permanent transfer move to Lazio.
Balotelli is not the only striker whom Lazio is looking at. They are also interested in signing Pescara’s Gianluca Lapadula. However, if they fail to sign the 26-year-old, then a more serious bid for Balotelli may materialize. Leicester are interested in acquiring the services of Lapadula and Liverpool will be hoping that the current Premier League champions get their man so that Lazio are forced to refine their list of striker targets.
