Liverpool Transfer News: Sadio Mane confirmation from Southampton as Marko Pjaca bid fails?

English Premier League (EPL) club Liverpool’s $16.42 million bid for Croatia and GNK Dinamo Zagreb winger Marko Pjaca has failed. This has forced The Red’s manager Jurgen Klopp to turn his attention to Southampton and Senegal winger Sadio Mane.

The transfer of Mane to Liverpool has fuelled after Norwich City’s Nathan Redmond made a switch from The Canaries to the St Mary’s Stadium. Many within Southampton are thinking that Redmond will be a direct replacement of Mane, as reported by Liverpool Echo.

Mane is valued at around $41 million by Southampton and The Saints won’t be budging from that offer. The Southampton hierarchy wants to make a healthy profit from the sale of Mane who arrived from Red Bull Salzburg a couple of years ago for $13 million.

Sadio Mane has made 37 appearances for Southampton in the Premier League last season in which he has scored a total of 11 goals. The 24-year-old winger from Senegal created an impressive 41 chances for his team, six of which were assists. Mane completed 776 passes of which 81% were accurate and 60% were forward passes, according to

Liverpool supporters are hoping that their manager Jurgen Klopp will be able to transform Mane into a world-class player. Klopp had a history of converting talented individuals into top level superstars at his previous club, Borussia Dortmund. One of the notable names who made a huge transformation under Klopp in Germany is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Mane has similar characteristics to those of Aubameyang and critics are hoping that Klopp will be able to achieve similar results with the Senegalese winger. Mane would also be an excellent squad player at Anfield, should he take some time to develop.

However, the value of $41 million is being considered a hefty sum by many and it will be interesting to see if the Liverpool hierarchy are willing to spend so much money for an unpolished player.
